Upcoming New Releases (To Wear Sunscreen) – Week Ending Friday September 29, 2023:

I hope this Tuesday finds everyone well and happy.

As September draws to an end there are a few big releases coming out. The Ginger Dynamo Ed Sheeran has a new record coming, as does Lil Wayne. Old hipsters will be happy to see New Music from Wilco and Animal Collective.

Animal Collective – Gem & I

There’s a bunch of stuff I’m anxious to hear this week. New titles from Oneohtrix Point Never, Armand Hammer, The Orb, Blonde Redhead, Oliver Tree and Becky G await.

Oneohtrix Point Never – A Barely Lit Path

My BandCamp Wishlist is sitting with nine titles on the verge of release. On Thursday, Spanish quartet Melenas is releasing their third album, Ahora. Dreamy SynthPop.

Melenas – Bang

Be good to yourself, and I’ll be back on Friday with what is sure to be a whole mess of New Music. Peace out!

Upcoming New Releases – Week of May 27, 2022:

Even though I write my blog posts on my iTelephone*, I like to envision myself more like this:

“Gotta get these hot music tips out to the world, on deadline, or else the Kaiser wins…”

I’m only mentioning this because I will be getting a NEW phone (very much like the old phone, only BETTER 🤨), and this will be the last post using my still very usable, perfectly practical, current phone. My deeply ingrained Gen-X mistrust of technology has taught me to prepare for the worst, when changing to new hardware.

To that end, let it be known, to friend and foe alike, that I’m deeply excited for new New Releases. That it looks to be a pretty good week with a couple of legacy artists leading the way. And if you consider Liam Gallagher anything but a legacy artist, you’re probably a yob. And I love Wilco, having seen them many times in concert, but they seem comfortable repeating themselves, and I respect that. Also, Def Leppard.

Aside from that, I’m looking forward to hearing the remainder of what’s on the ol’ Bandcamp wishlist, which features upcoming titles from The Cromagnon Band, Deca, Afrorack, and the Jazz Is Dead series. And why have I never heard of Jean Carne?

Jean Carne, Adrian Younge, & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – The Summertime

So, if all goes well with my upgrade, I should be reporting back on Friday with glorious musical treasures. And if you never hear from me again, that’s how I’d like to be remembered.
