This past weekend was the Glastonbury Music Festival; an experience I’ve yet to experience in person, but it is in my Bucket List. I’ve been able to see clips from the shows, to feel the experience.
Billy Nomates is the recording name for UK Artist Tor Maries. In the last few years she has made a name for herself and has released her third album in January, CACTI. Her performance on the Park Stage last Friday afternoon should have been a career highlight for the 33 year-old Artist. The crowd seems to be enjoying themselves, and Tor thought the set went great. However, all the comments online on BBC.co.uk were vicious. Not once have I seen an artist perform with backing tracks and be inspired to become a keyboard warrior and spout sexist garbage. Sounds like childish nonsense. But after all the online hate, she’s canceling shows and asking that the show be taken offline.
This experience compelled me to go back and listen to the new album. I’m glad I did. Cacti is adventurous Bedroom Pop Music with thoughtful lyrics. Fans of Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Snail Mail will enjoy this. And if you’re a sexist pig, do us all a favour; stay off the internet.
Talk to you again soon! Be kind to each other!
I saw Blondie open for Tears for Fears in 1990, and watched some of their set at Coachella this past April livestreamed on YouTube. Though Debbie Harry’s voice isn’t what it once was, she still sounds alright considering she turns 78 tomorrow (July 1st).

And what a shame there were so many trolls disparaging Billy Nomates’ performance.
